Finding your perfect dress

When planning your perfect day, it is great that today there are so many possibilities open to you for the wedding dress, but the sheer number of choices available can also be overwhelming. To help you find the perfect dress for you here are some helpful tips:

Know your body type

Make the most of your assets by choosing a dress that will best suit your body shape and enhance the assets you have and flatter the areas that you do not wish to highlight. For those with an hourglass figure, the ideal wedding dresses are bodices with corsets or two-piece items such as ball gowns, as these emphasise curves.  Wedding dresses with something that would highlight the waist are also ideal. Pear shaped? A perfect option can be a Princess dress with an A-line cut. This style hides full hips and highlights the torso as well as the bust area. Petite women should avoid ball gowns that are big as well as wedding dress with mermaid cut because these only overwhelm the natural shape of the body.  The best dresses are those that have simple cuts and fabric type to make them look taller and slender. Tall women can carry the majority of dress styles out there: A- line cut, princess line cut, ball gowns, mermaid style, and straight dresses. Although almost all styles can fit tall women, it is best to avoid empire line dresses because these can overemphasize a tall frame and can be too overwhelming especially when paired with small accessories. For anyone with a full waist, drop waist and princess-line dresses flatter the curves of the waist. Women who have broad shoulders should avoid wearing wedding dresses with necklines that are off-the-shoulder or halter neck as they will only emphasise the broadness of the shoulders.  Instead opt for wedding dresses without straps or those with scoop necklines to enhance the shoulder.  Brides that have a flat bust should choose wedding dresses that have square or scoop necklines that will emphasize the bust area.

Know the dress shapes available

After ascertaining your body type, familiarize yourself about the different wedding dress shapes available as this can help you decide which one will suit you best. The most available dress shapes out there include straight wedding dresses that have revealing and daring cuts and highlight to the body's contours, A-line princess cut wedding dresses that are perfect for those who want to hide something from the bust line down because they practically cover everything from the bust line to the toes. Empire wedding dresses are almost A-line dresses with the seam strategically placed under the bust line to emphasise. Mermaid wedding dresses are designed to fit from the waist to the knees before expanding into a stylish flair down to the feet. So, have fun.  If you do not already have your dream dress in mind, try on lots of dresses.  Take someone with you to take photos.  Most importantly enjoy yourself!
